Mainly a resource for USMLE but can also be used a primary or supplemantry resource for your basic 1st year subjects. Physeo offers free access to videos with a bit of ads on the free plan but that are not too annoying. Right now it's a better deal than all the other. Total Time - hrs you can watch on 1. Price - Free for the basic plan with ads. First Aid Grade - A. For some student the slide method on Boards And Beyond might not be that beneficial as the visual method is - and that's what Physeo is - a visual method of teaching the basic subjects.
I'd say to use this for Microbiology though as there is a better resource available Sketchy Micro which has more high yield points and is better made but for the basic subjects - it's more than enough as not only it covers the high yields but does it so from the ground up. It's exceptionally good for Cardiology, Renal and Respiratory Systems and clearing basics of that with the annotating is First Aid has proved to be very scoring for many people who have used the above resource.
They're also adding Embryology, Pharmacology, Immunology in coming weeks and it would be nice to try that out too but I think for pharma Sketchy is more than enough for USMLE and understanding purposes.Ligienista mentale
Things included in premium. Although as a supplement resource in your first year you won't need to buy the premium but for USMLE preparation it can be really useful to buy Physeo. Physeo - Reveiw.

Some concepts are just plain memorization while others are more intuitive. Either way, it will take more than just a single pass to get any content down. This is where I feel outside resources come into play. There is a huge variety of study resources out there for medical students and it may take some time to figure out which ones work best for you.
First Aid is the bread and butter resource you need for medical school, especially Step 1. This book goes through high yield concepts split into general principles and organ systems. There are definitions, tables, diagrams and more to convey these concepts. In addition, it provides study tips and mentions other top rated review sources.
I tend to use this closer to my unit exams in order to review the important concepts, rather than to learn them for the first time. These are videos from the authors of First Aid in which they go through and explain the facts from First Aid. I like that there is a different format for the same resource. I plan to use both, the videos first, then the book for further review. However, depending on your learning style one may work better for you than the other.
I use Physeo to hammer down the physiology. I like Physeo because it has videos split up by specific topics within the physiology pertinent to each organ system. Some of the videos are rather lengthy, since the creators took the time to fully explain each topic as well as provide clinical applications.Anki is a spaced repetition flashcard software.
Put simply, this means you'll do a card today, then tomorrow, then 3 days after that, then 7 days, etc. By showing you flashcards right before you are theoretically about to forget them, this method is both effective and efficient.Picornavirus Overview - SketchyMicro (USMLE Microbiology Review)
Check out this video for more. The honest answer is there are no "best" settings. It is very important that you understand the anki algorithm and what the settings do so that you can tailor them to your personal needs.
For starters, we recommend following our recommended settings. There is another popular video on YouTube by Conaana and we have posted our thoughts on their settings vs ours here. We have a video on how to make effective cards. Another good place to start is to read this article about the 20 rules of formulating knowledge. This is an error with the Nightmode add-on. Ease hell is when you've hit "again" or "hard" so many times that the ease of your cards is very low. This leads to you doing more cards than is actually necessary.
The most often cause of this is a user who doesn't understand the anki algorithm. See this video explaining ease hell and how to fix it. Check out this video for how to set up a controller. For windows, we recommend Joy2Key and for mac we recommend Enjoyable. The Anki iOS app recently had an update that allows mapping a controller in the settings.
This is one of our most commonly asked questions. We would actually recommend that you leave your max interval at 6 months or more, despite your test coming before that.
If your card is scheduled out to 3 months, then theoretically you should remember that fact for 3 months. If you feel you need to review your flashcards more before a test, we'd recommend using the custom filtered decks. Beyond that, practice questions will actually be better than additional reviews and help you better synthesize the information.PEDro is the Physiotherapy Evidence Database, a free database of over 46, randomised trials, systematic reviews and clinical practice guidelines in physiotherapy.

Learn how to effectively and efficiently integrate Anki into your medical education. The intent of this website is to serve as an orientation and guide to using Anki in med school as well as to provide information on other Step 1 and Step 2 resources.
Anki is a studying aid created by Damien Elmes. It is a flashcard app that uses a novel spaced repetititon algorithm to maximize learning. A study published a few years ago showed that the more Anki flashcards students did, the higher their board scores were.
Students across the country have begun using Anki to supplement other studying methods. The beauty of using Anki in medical school is that in addition to being able to create your own flashcards, there are several pre-made decks that generous students have created and shared.
A list of these decks with descriptions and the history behind them is listed below.Rap godfather
A thorough guide created by a student Shamim Ahmed also exists on how to incoporate Anki into your daily study routine in medical school. Additionally, a new Youtube channel called "The AnKing" has created 39 videos and counting with detailed videos tailored to mediccal students to help them use Anki.
This is a great resource if you're just starting out with Anki or would like to learn some new tricks. The deck is intended to cover all relevant physiology and pathology for boards. Along with the Brosencephalon deck brosencephalon. The biggest topic missing is the cancer pharmacology section. Using one or the other is a matter of personal preference.Python turtle race finished
Boards and Beyond is very comprehensive of the material covered on Step 1 and has the related pages in First Aid cited. This new deck seems to be entering the "gold standard" tier that the Zanki Step 1 and Brosencephalon decks are in for covering most topics for Step 1 using Anki. Below are the boards resources subdivided into tiers. The ranking of these resources is informal and has come from reading internet discussions and talking to upperclassmen about which resources they preferred and thought were the best.
In the "Golden" tier are resources that include high yield information and that anecdotally many or all medical students consider to be amongst the best resources to use to prepare for boards.
In the "Silver" tier are resources that are also very good but not every medical student uses. In the "Bronze" tier are resources that students can use when the other resources do not work as well for specific learning styles but are also thought to be useful. You can use these best resources to excel in college and medical school.
